Expectations
NTTP Trainees are
expected to do the following :
1st School
Placement
- To teach 40% of a
teacher’s timetable (this should include a Pastoral
period and a duty period)
- Trainees should be
assigned to a Tutor Group
- Trainees to perform
regular duties like other members of staff
- Trainees should be
introduced to the school by the Professional Tutor
- Trainees should shadow
a pupil for a day
- Ideally, every lesson
given by a trainee should be observed and recorded on
ERF forms (Evidence Record Forms). In any event,
trainees should be formally observed at least once a
week.
- Trainees should set
and mark work Trainees should abide
by school rules, dress code etc.
- Column on right hand
side of ERF forms refers to the QTS Standards. There is
an electronic version of ERF forms available if
preferred. This is located on both the Student section and the Staff section's of the website.
- School Based Tutors
should have a formal meeting with the trainee for one
hour, at least once a week where they discuss progress,
set targets (maximum of 3), lesson plans. Lesson plans
need to be given to SBTs (school-based tutors) in
advance so that they can be checked.
2nd
School Placement
- In addition to the above, trainees are expected to teach 60% of the timetable.
