General Information
The NTTP is a school centred initial teacher training provider based in Northamptonshire. All Partnership schools include are state secondary schools (11-18) and have gone through rigorous selection procedures and have recent satisfactory, or better inspection reports. Three of these schools are OFSTED grade 1.
You will spend 34 weeks with the Partnership, 24 of which are based in schools learning the craft of teaching and classroom management. You will also spend 2 sessions at a Primary School (the first being 3 days, and the second 5 days) looking at the transition of your subject from KS2 to KS3.
In addition you will have Subject Studies and General Professional Studies (GPS) sessions looking more specifically at the academic rigour of the profession.
There will be occasions throughout the course when you can evaluate your experiences both in the classroom and in the more formally taught studies. You will be based at Northampton School for Boys, the Lead School of the Partnership, a DCSF Designated Technology College, Sportsmark Gold, Arts Mark Silver school and awarded with Beacon School status, where the facilities are second to none.
You will have your own laptop and teacher training resources, as well as access to computers and other hardware, which are available for use from approximately 8.30am to 4.30pm. Webcams and digital movie creators are also made available to our trainees.
All trainees who successfully achieved the award of PGCE/QTS in recent years gained employment (the vast majority in local schools).
Academic Award - PGCE and QTS
